Bridge Map

This week is the final Thinking Map. We are working on incorporating Bridge Maps into our lesson. If you have any questions about this, please check out the email I sent and look at the pictures I attached. Remember to post about your ideas, even if they did not work according to plan.

  1. I am going to have my students use the bridge map to compare and contrast characters in our short story unit. I will also use the bridge map to compare characters in The Outsiders and To Kill a Mockingbird.

  2. I used the bridge map to teach symbols to my Fast Track student. We discussed symbols such as a rose and a flag and then found symbols in stories and movies that they had read or watched.

  3. I have used the Bridge Map to help students remember the names of famous people and their importance in their target culture.
“Cervantes is to the Spanish speaking world (Goethe is to the German speaking world) as Shakespeare is to the English speaking world.”

  4. To Kill a Mockingbird is full of unique analogies. To help my students "get" these comparisons, I plan to use Bridge Maps throughout our reading and discussion of this novel.
